It is what it is, he beat a good fighter nothing else. Don't act like he beat Cotto or something. We all know where Hattons limit is..when he steps up to the Floyd Mayweather class of opposition, he gets beat.
What is it with you brits ? You have been in the boxing shadow of US for so long and now you try to prove a point that you've finally stepped out of it.
But producing a Calzaghe and Hatton doenst make up for it.
These guys are good but got to where they are more out of clever management than anything else. It's not like they pulverized their divisions, taking on everybody everywhere.
I'm from Denmark and I have no illusion that Kessler is the next Ray Robinson..
The best you've had so far is Lewis but he was schooled to that level in America.

Yep it is what it is, Floyd beat a lesser fighter nothing more [/sarcasm]

Not at all dude, what we are saying is that whenever a UK guy beats a US guy then the guy he beat gets an automatic "bum" status but the other way around doesn't work that way. Floyd whooped Ricky big time, my hat goes off to him he is the better boxer by far and I have nothing negative to say about him but please just let us have our moment of glory in peace and lets leave it at that.
You guys have far more knowledge than I do when it comes to Boxing so I don't want to debate the facts, I just like winding Skillz up as he takes a joke well.

I aint tryin to prove a point about nothing. I just mean that everytime a Brit wins a fight, the fighter they have beaten becomes "shot, past it, a bum, over rated, a hype job"
It's the same thing everytime.
Just because we support our fighters more than most countries do, it doesn't mean that we are trying to prove a point.

the worst is that if DLH wins hes gonna pick on another midget in Hatton and that fight will be over in 4 rounds...

Yaa but it's ur own fault..because who did u beat ?
U can make the bum/past his prime point in each case.
Had Calzaghe beat some established prime great fighter no problem.
Had Hatton beat Mayweather no problem.
But the Malinaggis of the world only count as a good result, no thing more.
Only british fighter I give full props is Lewis.

And what is it about you people that want to pull a brit fighter down in every fight they win?. You may have a point but you NEVER give any credit, there is always a reason why a brit fighter wins and it's not because of skill accorinding to you so it kind of make your argument look like brit sniping. If Hatton beat Mayweather I can guarantee there would have been excuses from some people. As for Hatton stepping up to Mayweather and losing I'll say this one more time, Hatton is world class, he can beat everyone including Cotto, but Mayweather is legendary class...big difference.
Like I have said before, Hatton and Calzaghe may have had a few easy
nights, but what fighter hasn't?. Hatton is going for all the best fighters, he is even willing to step up to 147 to fight Oscar the much bigger man just so that he can fight the best, but even if he beats him we will hear that oscar is passed it blah blah blah, like donny said you guys go on like it's just Brit fighters. Apart from Ali's and haglers era, I can't remember many boxers fighting other legends when both are in their prime years.
Thanks god established magazines liek Ring Magazine and other critics rate Hatton and Calzaghe as world class and Calzaghe legendary and not these biased idiots on these forums. I've done it before, every record can be picked apart, I done it with Hopkins and Jones, Hopkins has almost lost all the big fights and whacked out many bums as ten years champion, but that gets glossed over, let me guess "no problem"

I completely agree, Hatton would get blown away, especially with Hatton's aggresive style, De La Hoya is far too big and skillful.

DD, whos pulling who down ? It seems to me that you are trying to pull Hatton up like this was some huge win.
I give credit where credit is due that's all. I don't give Calzaghe a lot of credit because the way he handpicks his opponent
when they are just ripe for the taking. He should be fighting the likes of Dawson and Pavlik but instead he goes on legend hunting, wasting his last precious years on fighters like Jones and Hopkins.
A true great fighter just demolishes his division. A good example is Tyson, though it wasn't the best era,
he ducked noone, he just lined them up. Same with Ali.
I think Calzaghe wants to be in that category but he is not willing to take the neccessary risks.
Besides, your wrong. Some records can't be "picked apart".
Examples.
Ali
Duran
Hagler
Hearns
Robinson
Leonard
Holyfield
I agree that RJJ and Hopkins careers are not in that category, but they took risks and fought the best of the best a few times. Something that Calzaghe can't claim, unless you think that Mikkel Kessler (lol) is "the best of the best".

Malignaggi will outclass Hatton.
Result:Malignaggi Unanimous Decision
Mwhahahaha... TAKE THAT!!!
WHO ARE YA, WHO ARE YA, WHO ARE YA!!!!
THERE'S ONLY ONE RICKKKYY HATTOON!!!
(tryin to annoy the haters)
I have a bunch of friends from America...they all said the same thing...LIKE MOST AMERICANS ALWAYS DO!!! ... If it's a British fighter...there are always Brit haters around the world who like to pull us down..(especially in the USA)...(and now in Denmark?)
Hatton did not just beat Paulie...he OUT-BOXED him!!! No excuses!!!
Paule is ranked number 2 isn't he??? You also saw his performance against Cotto..he is no pushover... and Hatton took care of business...IN STYLE!!! I for one am not happy... I placed a £10 bet on Hatton winning on points...and Paulie's trainer Buddy..he threw in the towel..BASTARD!
Anyways..stop Brit hating..jeez..and it makes me cringe hearing the hate coming from the big boss of OB..Mikkel... damn... c'mon... Hatton totally out-boxed him..AND gave him a beating...he beat him on the inside AND the outside...Paulie was the one doing all of the clinching and holding...Hatton came to fight...Paulie felt Hatton's power and decided to hug all night.
I rate Hatton as number 1 at 140lbs...even if Cotto came down and fought him...I think Hatton would win...but if Hatton went up in weight and fought Cotto at welterweight..I think Cotto would win!
HATTON = 140lb King!!!

Big example of someone not fighting the best competition right now is Mayweather. He is known as great, but he blatentley ducked Margarito, Williams, Cotto, Clottey, Berto who are clearly the top fighters at WW. Instead he fights a shot Gatti, Judah, Baldomir, Mitchell.
Why don't you question him but question Calzaghe? Cuz he's British.
Before the fight this weekend, almost everybody said that Hatton would get outboxed by Paulie. Now all of a sudden Paulie is shit. I don't get it. Great logic tho....

I never said Paulie is shit..it's a good win for Hatton. I dont question Calzaghe because he is british but because of his record.
The question here is not if Cal and Hatton are good but if they are GREAT !. And if you think so, comeup with a legit reason why. I think not and stated my reasons.
At least thats what I thought we were discussing. Of course they are good fighters.
Reason why I'm talking about the brits (Hatton, Cal) records right now is because this thread is about Hatton, it's not like I don't see Floyds ducking tactics.
Floyd is only better than Hatton because he beat him, not because his previous record is so much better.
I seriously doubt Floydd, in my book he is a damn ducker.
He is nowhere close to the previous greats.
Not fighting Margarito ? Not fighting Cotto ? wth is that !
Calcaghe is almost there, if he beat Pavlik and Dawson he has proven himself.
If Hatton beats Cotto or Margarito he is there as well.
It just takes a few fights to elevate yourself to the highest level, but you have to fight the ultimate best to get there.

Margarito is way too big for Hatton in my opinion. I think Cotto is too big for him too...well...Cotto and Margarito are large welterweights...Hatton fights a lot better at light-welterweight (junior welterweight)
A fight I would love to see is:
Hatton vs Judah (140lbs)
Zab is coming back down to 140lbs I think...so this is a fight I really would want to see!!!
If Hatton fights Oscar he will get owned...Oscar is way too big for him... If he fights Pac-Man...I see that being a good fight because Pac-Man is more like Hatton's size.
