The reason for its success is that the syllabus of UCSD Math courses is focused towards helping high school students to prepare for their high school exams like the SAT or ACT. It is seen that many students from underrepresented groups in high schools drop out from high school owing to lack of preparation for the high school exit examination. Therefore, high school mathematics offers an excellent preparation for these exams. In fact, this is the basic requirement for admission to any leading University and College. It is an important factor that determines whether an applicant will be admitted or denied entry into a University. The high school math course that an applicant takes should be a blend of concepts from traditional classroom teaching methods. Moreover, it should also provide the necessary mathematical skills that are required by most high school courses. One should not opt for simple and uncomplicated methods of teaching while preparing for high school.
