Dark Destroyer wrote:It' funny how the Americans in this thread still disrespect Calzaghe and are already making excuses for Jones before the fight saying crap like "ohh too old", "5-10 years ago different story", yet if he wins the same people will say "calzaghe has always been overated, Jones is a legend, still has what it takes", so Calzaghe is in a lose lose situation.

If he does win however, you guys will say Jones is a hasbeen, past it, but 10 years ago he would have beat him, and you call yourselves boxing fans?. Being biased is one thing but to knock a guy who has beaten everybody and hasn't lot a fight since he was 14 is beyond me. He is a legend most people know it, deal with it.

If you guys knew anything about the game you would know that 10 years ago a Calzaghe Vs Jones fight would have been a very close one, just as this one will be, Jones might have won back then, but it would have been close, but this total disrespect for Calzaghe a legend is just typical jealousy because he isn't American. Like I said before, Lacy's and Kessler's face really looked like it had been slapped didn't they?.

One last thing people use the age thing, Calzaghe is past it too, he is 36, Jones 39, not like there is a massive difference.

He is in a loss-loss situation for sure, but what can he expect ? Jones was koed 2 times and losing a decision..then he bounces back with a few wins against mediocre opponents. Hardly the Jones, that was considered p4p the best fighter, from 7 years ago.
I dont know what happened and why the fight didnt happen at that time but it doesnt matter now.
Any top HW will prop beat Roy Jones now, and he is not even in the top 30 of p4p anymore. It's not biased to claim that this fight has totally lost any importance that it once had, and beating rjj now does not elevate calzaghe to legend status.

Does RJJ have a greater resume than cal ? For sure, he fought Hopkins and James Toney when they were prime. Calzaghe has never beaten anyone on that level and who was still at top of their game.
It seems like he dont want to take too many risk, which is ok, but now he cant claim to have had a very interresting and great carreer.

Biggest names on his record are Hopkins (old), Mikkel Kessler (same e as himself, overprotected and had never beaten anyone good) and Lazy (never good, very inexperienced). Did he ever beat someone at the level of Duran, Hearns, James Toney ? Maybe these kind fights never happen for whatever , but because they didnt, he cannot be mentioned in the same breath as these guys.

Calzaghe will probably win, though don't be to sure. But had they fought 5-10 years ago, it would have been a completely different fight.

Defeated Edder by third round knockout for the 27th defense of my OBC International Title

Defeated CaptainAmerica by decision with scores of 120-108 119-110 and 120-108 to create one of the most one sided fights of OB history

Defeated Ray Johnson by second round technical knockout for the 143th fight of a streak. Easily the most dominative performance to ever happen in the 143th fight of a streak during the history of online boxing.

First fighter to successfully clinch 200 times during 1 fight

First fighter to successfully clinch 200 times during 1 fight AND win the fight

First fighter to successfully clinch 250 times during 1 fight, hence shattering the previous clinching record by 25%

First fighter to successfully clinch 300 times during 1 fight

First player in the history of OnlineBoxing to create 3 new clinching records in a row

Funny stuff

Oscar wrote:Class fight like, Hopkins pretty more destroyed Pavlik throughout the it from my point of view. He's still no Joe Calzaghe though.

The way you say it it sounds like Calslap is on a whole other level ?! how did you come to that conclusion.

Just select a rating (to the right of the screen)
Redneck stop posting irrelevant topics on the HOF board.
If you had knocked him down 1 second before the final bell, the count wouldnt stop anyway. As long as it's counting, the fight dont stop.
So to be truly special, you have to knock him down and out, one second before the fight ends. In a real fight you would be saved by the final bell even if you were totally out(depending on which ruleset you use).
This one is a nice last second ko anyway.
Why dont u two just get it on ? or is this prefight hype ?
